Using a Custom SMTP Server

Want to send notifications through your own email server? This article explains how to set up and use your custom SMTP server for sending all emails, giving you more control over your email communications.

Why Use Custom SMTP?

Using your own SMTP server helps maintain brand consistency since emails will come from your company's domain. This increases trust with your recipients and ensures better deliverability rates. This feature is available for all users on the Team plan.

Setting Up Custom SMTP

Navigate to the Apps page at https://my.meetergo.com/integrations
Find "Custom SMTP" in the list of integrations
Click "Connect Now" and then "Add Connection"
Enter your SMTP server details (add an optional comment for internal reference)
Click "Save Connection"
Activate the connection by clicking the checkmark

Once your credentials are verified, meetergo will start sending all notifications through your SMTP server. The system automatically tests the connection during setup. If the credentials work, you'll see a success message and can start using your custom SMTP immediately.

Using Multiple Email Senders

For organizations managing different services or departments, meetergo supports using multiple email senders through teams. First, create a team. Within each team, you can specify a different email sender, allowing you to customize email communications for different purposes or departments.

Important Notes

Your SMTP server must be configured to allow the sender email address you specify. If the sender email isn't properly configured on your SMTP server, the connection won't work correctly.

If at any point your SMTP credentials stop working or the connection fails, we will automatically switch back to the default email sender to ensure your notifications continue without interruption.

FAQ

What happens if my SMTP server goes down?

meetergo automatically switches to its default email sender if your SMTP server becomes unavailable. Your notifications will continue to be sent without any action required from you.

Can I use different sender addresses for different types of notifications?

Yes, by creating separate teams, you can configure different sender addresses for each team. This allows you to customize your email communications based on different services or departments.

Do I need to update my DNS records?

While not required for basic functionality, it's recommended to properly configure your DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) to ensure optimal email deliverability when using your own SMTP server.
