Resource Channels
Resources can be used as channels for your meeting types, giving you flexible control over how and when they're included in bookings. This article explains how to set up and use resources as channels, allowing you to manage complex availability scenarios with ease.
When you set a resource as a channel for a meeting type, it becomes optional during the booking process. The resource will only be included (and its availability considered) when specifically selected by the person booking the meeting.
💡 Resources must first be created in your meetergo account. To learn how to create and manage resources, see our resource management article.
Go to your meeting type overview and click on the meeting type you want to edit (or create one).
Scroll to the Venue section
Click on "Change" (or "Add New" if you want to add as an option)
Select "Resource" from the venue options
Choose the specific resource you want to use as a channel
Optionally, provide a custom display name (if left empty, the resource's original name will be shown)
Optionally, select a different availability schedule for this resource if you don't want to use its default availability

When a resource is set as a channel, several important things happen:
meetergo intelligently combines availabilities to prevent double bookings:
If the resource is the only channel option, the system always checks the combined availability of both the host(s) and the resource
If multiple channel options exist and someone selects a resource channel during booking, the system checks the combined availability of both the host(s) and the selected resource
The meeting can only be booked when both the host(s) and selected resources are available
If multiple channel options exist and the resource isn't selected, its availability won't affect the booking options
You can set up multiple resources as channels for the same meeting type, giving your clients choices about which resources to include.
Resource channels work seamlessly with round robin meeting types:
If a resource channel is selected (or is the only option), the system will check the combined availability of that resource and each member in the round robin
Only time slots where both the resource and at least one round robin member are available will be shown
Resource channels are perfect for managing rooms, equipment, or other resources that might be used across different meeting types:
You can have two different meeting types with different hosts but the same resource channel
If the resource is booked through one meeting type, its unavailability will be reflected in the other meeting type (even if that host is still available)
If an alternative channel is available and selected (like a phone call), the resource remains available for other bookings
Imagine you have:
A conference room (set as a resource)
Two different meeting types: "Sales Demo" and "Customer Support"
By setting the conference room as a channel for both meeting types:
If someone books a "Sales Demo" in the conference room, that room will show as unavailable for "Customer Support" meetings during that time
If "Sales Demo" has multiple channel options and someone books via phone (not selecting the conference room), the room remains available for "Customer Support" meetings
💡 This system works intuitively with different combinations and scenarios, making it easy to manage complex scheduling requirements without complex configuration.
Yes! The same resource can be used as a channel across different meeting types. The system will keep track of its availability across all usages.
If you delete a resource, it will be removed from any meeting types where it's set as a channel. You may need to update those meeting types with new venue options.
If a resource is the only channel for a meeting type, it will always be included in bookings and its availability will always be considered. If it's one of multiple channel options, it only affects availability when specifically selected.
