How to Change Your Email Sender Address

Wondering how to change the "from" address on your meeting invites? You're in the right place! In Meetergo, the sender address isn't something you type in directly. Instead, it's determined by the type of notification you choose for your meetings. This article explains your options so you can pick the one that works best for you.

Option 1: Email Confirmations

When your meeting type is set to send "Email confirmations," the email is sent from Meetergo's own system. We use a dedicated sender address (like noreply@meetergo.com) that is highly optimized to make sure your invites always land in the attendee's inbox and not their spam folder.

With this option, the reply-to address is also a noreply address. Your personal email address will not be shown to the attendee. This is the default setting, designed for maximum reliability.

If you want invites to come directly from your own email address, this is the best way to do it. When you switch your meeting type to send "Calendar invites," meetergo tells your connected calendar (Google, Microsoft, or Exchange) to send the event. The invitation will come directly from the email address associated with that calendar.

This means your attendee will see your name and email address as the sender, and they can reply directly to you.

To switch to Calendar Invites:

  1. Go to your Meeting Types.
  2. Find the meeting type you want to change and click Edit.
  3. Scroll down to the Notifications & Cancellation Policy section.
  4. Under "How should the attendee be invited?", select Calendar invites.
  5. Click Save.

This setting requires you to have a calendar connected in your Integrations settings. If you haven't connected one yet, meetergo will guide you through it.

Option 3: Custom SMTP (For Advanced Users)

For those who need complete control over their email sending, Meetergo supports using a custom SMTP server. This means all meetergo emails are routed through your own email server. When you use this method, you have full control over the sender address.

This is an advanced feature that requires technical knowledge to set up. For a full guide, please see our dedicated article.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I just type in the email address I want to use?

To protect everyone from spam and ensure your invites are delivered, emails must be sent from a verified source. Allowing any address to be typed in would cause your invitations to be flagged as spam and likely never reach your attendees. The methods above ensure your invites are sent from an authorized system, whether it's ours or yours.

If I use Calendar Invites, can attendees reply to the invitation?

Yes! That's one of the biggest benefits. When an attendee replies to a calendar invitation, the message goes directly to the inbox of your connected calendar account (e.g., your Gmail or Outlook inbox).

What's the best option for me?

  • For most users, Calendar Invites is the best option. It's professional, personal, and allows for direct replies.
  • If you don't use a Google, Microsoft, or Exchange calendar, Meetergo Email Confirmations is a simple and reliable choice.
  • If you are technically proficient and need to manage email sending through your own infrastructure, Custom SMTP gives you ultimate control.
