AI phone assistant: phone numbers

Order the German local number included in Premium, and let the assistant take calls that your own number cannot answer.

Updated on September 18, 2026

Your assistant answers on a phone number you assign to it. Premium includes one German local number per workspace, which a company admin orders explicitly. You can also keep your existing number and forward calls to the assistant.

Order the included number

  1. Open AI phone assistant, go to Numbers and click Add number.
  2. Keep Buy a number selected and choose Germany.
  3. Enter the area code of the city you want, for example 069 for Frankfurt or 030 for Berlin. German numbers are found by dialling code, not by city name.
  4. Optionally add digits the number should contain, then click Search numbers.
  5. Pick a number and click Buy number.

What you need for the order

The assistant walks you through the verification before the order is placed, and you upload everything there as PDF, PNG or JPEG. Have ready:

  • Contact person, business name and a phone number you can be reached on.
  • A proof of address no older than three months, such as an invoice, a bank statement or a letter from an authority.
  • A copy of an ID or passport, or an extract from the commercial register.
  • Your commercial register number, for business orders.
  • The German registration form for local service numbers, required by the Bundesnetzagentur.
  • The business address, which must lie inside the area code you chose.

After you confirm, the order goes to the number provider. The number's status in Numbers tells you where it stands: Order in review, Waiting for approval, Documents required if something has to be corrected, and Active once it can take calls. Approval usually takes a few working days.

Keep your own number and forward calls

You do not have to move your number to meetergo. Keep it where it is and set up call forwarding from your phone to your meetergo number. Every provider supports this, and it is the fastest way to put the assistant in front of calls you cannot take:

  • When you do not answer: set forwarding on no answer. The ring time before it applies is your phone's setting, and 25 to 30 seconds is roughly five rings.
  • Outside your working hours: switch on unconditional forwarding at the end of the day. The assistant answers around the clock, so it needs no schedule of its own.
  • When your line is busy: set forwarding on busy, so a second caller still reaches the assistant.

Forwarded calls count against your included minutes like any other call. Your phone provider may charge the forwarded leg according to your tariff.

Numbers that are never used are released

A number that no one calls still costs money every month, so unused numbers are given back:

  • No incoming call for 14 days: you get a warning email, a second one at 21 days, and the number is released at 28 days. Any call resets this.
  • No assistant attached for 14 days: the same warnings, the same release. Attaching an assistant resets it.
  • If the workspace loses access to the AI phone assistant, the number stops answering immediately and is released after 7 days.

Released numbers cannot be recovered. You can always release a number yourself under Numbers.
