meetergo Log: the optional desktop recorder

meetergo Log is an optional desktop recorder for macOS and Windows. It records the audio on your computer, transcribes it and writes an AI summary. The default transcription engine runs locally on your own computer.

The meetergo Notetaker remains the default. It needs no installation and joins supported online meetings as a visible participant. Choose meetergo Log when you need to record without a bot, capture a call on another platform, record an in-person conversation or transcribe an existing file.

Use the Notetaker for the easiest setup and reliable operation independent of your computer. Use meetergo Log when no bot is important or the Notetaker cannot join the meeting.

Benefits of the desktop recorder

No bot joins. It records system audio and your microphone on your computer.
Works across meeting tools. This includes Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Whereby, Jitsi and meetergo Connect.
Covers more than online meetings. Record a room conversation through your microphone or import an existing recording, such as a voice memo.
Works offline. The default transcription model runs on your device.
No minute cap. The app is free and has no monthly transcription limit.
Separates speakers. It labels who said what, and you can rename speakers before exporting.

Limits and reliability

meetergo Log depends on the computer it runs on. Transcription speed and recording reliability vary with the processor, available memory, operating system, audio drivers and other programs running at the same time. Older or lower-powered computers can be slow and may not record or transcribe reliably. Test the app and your audio setup before an important meeting.

The following limits also apply:

The app must remain open during the meeting.
Microphone and system-audio capture must stay enabled. Operating-system permissions or audio changes can interrupt a recording.
macOS and Windows are supported. Linux is not currently supported.
There is no browser, iPhone or Android version.
It cannot recover audio that was not captured. Check the input levels before you begin.
No bot or automatic recording notice appears for participants.

Because participants are not notified automatically, you are responsible for telling them that you record and transcribe. Recording a conversation usually requires everyone taking part to agree, and the rules differ by country. Get that agreement before you record. You can still record with a phone and then copy the audio file to a supported computer for transcription.

What it does

Speaker separation

meetergo Log separates who said what and labels each line with a speaker, including the other participants in the call. You can rename the speakers afterwards, for example from "Speaker A" to "Sarah", before exporting.

More than 40 languages

Transcription uses OpenAI's Whisper model with automatic language detection, so mixed-language meetings remain readable. You can optionally use the OpenAI API or bring your own model if you prefer a different engine. Choosing a cloud engine means processing is no longer local or offline.

Local processing and privacy

With the default local engine, audio and transcripts stay on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to meetergo or another server unless you deliberately connect your meetergo account or switch to a cloud transcription engine.

Connect it to your meetergo account

Connecting is optional. Once connected, meetergo Log can start recordings for meetings booked through meetergo and send the results back to the appointment. You need a Light plan or higher and a Personal Access Token.

After you generate a summary, the transcript and summary appear on the appointment:

Open AI Notes → Recaps. Every meeting the desktop recorder uploaded has its own recap page there, like a notetaker recording
Open the booking in your dashboard and find Meeting Summary & Transcription in the detail drawer
The When transcript is received workflow trigger fires when a transcript or summary is added

Automatic start works only for meetings booked through meetergo. Start recordings for plain calendar entries and ad-hoc calls yourself. meetergo Log must be running for automatic start to work.

One recording per meeting. A meeting the notetaker is recording, or that already has a notetaker recap, refuses an upload from meetergo Log. Switch Mira off for that meeting first, or delete the recap under AI Notes → Recaps.

FAQ

How many minutes can I transcribe?

meetergo Log is free with no minute limit and no monthly fee. The work runs on your hardware instead of a metered transcription server.

Can I use it on an older computer?

It may work, but performance is hardware-dependent. Older computers may transcribe slowly, lose audio or fail to finish reliably. Run a short test recording first. Use the default Notetaker when you need recording to work independently of your computer.
