meetergo Log: transcribe and record meetings (AI notetaker)
Where to start a transcription and how to download the app: record a meeting without a bot, transcribe a recording you already have, speaker separation, and how the transcript and meeting summary get back into meetergo.
meetergo Log is a free desktop app that records your meetings, transcribes them and writes an AI summary. Everything runs on your own computer.
There is no Start transcription button inside the meetergo web app. Transcription happens in meetergo Log, a separate program you install on your Mac or Windows PC. The AI Notes page in meetergo is where you download it.
Where to start a transcription
- In your meetergo sidebar, open AI Notes (the page is titled meetergo Log)
- Click Download for macOS or Download for Windows and install the app
- Open meetergo Log and start the recording when your meeting begins
- Stop the recording when the meeting ends, then generate the summary

You can also download meetergo Log directly. No meetergo account is needed to use the app on its own.
Which notetaker should I use?
meetergo offers three ways to get meeting notes. They work very differently, so pick by whether you want a bot in the call or not.

Which platforms and calls it records
meetergo Log records the audio playing on your computer, so it does not care which tool the meeting runs in:
- Google Meet
- Zoom
- Microsoft Teams
- Webex
- Whereby
- Jitsi
- meetergo Connect
It also works with no video call at all: you can record a room conversation through your microphone, or transcribe a recording you already have instead of recording live (for example a voice memo from your phone).
meetergo Connect has no built-in recording of its own. Running meetergo Log next to the call is the supported way to get a recording and a transcript of a Connect session.

meetergo Log is a desktop program. There is no mobile app and no browser version, because the transcription model runs locally on your machine. You can still transcribe a recording made on your phone by copying the file to your computer.
What it does
Speaker separation
meetergo Log separates who said what and labels each line with a speaker, including the other participants in the call, not just you. You can rename the speakers afterwards ("Speaker A" → "Sarah") before exporting.
40+ languages
Transcription uses OpenAI's Whisper model with automatic language detection, so mixed-language meetings still come out readable. You can optionally switch to the OpenAI API or bring your own model if you prefer a different engine.
Runs offline
The model runs on your device, so meetergo Log works without an internet connection, for example on a plane.
Privacy and GDPR
- Audio and transcripts stay on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to meetergo or to any other server, unless you deliberately connect your meetergo account (see below) or switch the engine to the OpenAI API.
- No bot joins the meeting, so other participants get no automatic "this call is being recorded" notice.
Because participants are not notified automatically, you are responsible for telling them that you record and transcribe. In Germany and the EU, recording a conversation without the other side's consent is generally not allowed. A required consent checkbox on your booking form is the simplest way to collect it, see Adding questions to your booking form.
Connecting it to your meetergo account
Connecting is optional. Once you do, meetergo Log starts recordings for booked meetings by itself and pushes the results back into meetergo. You need a Light plan or higher and a Personal Access Token.

After a summary is generated, the transcript and summary land on the appointment itself:
- Open the booking in your dashboard and look at the Meeting Summary & Transcription section of the detail drawer
- In a workflow, the When transcript is received trigger fires as soon as a transcript or summary is added, which is how you email the summary to attendees automatically

Auto-start only works for meetings that were booked through meetergo. A plain calendar entry or an ad-hoc Zoom call is not detected, you start those recordings by hand.
A notetaker bot that joins every call
If you want a notetaker that shows up in the call as a participant instead of running on your laptop, enable the Sally integration:
- Create an account at sally.io
- In meetergo, go to Integrations & Apps and open the Sally tile
- Click Enable Sally
Sally is then invited to your booked meetings via the calendar invitation. This requires calendar invites to be switched on for the meeting type and an online meeting channel (Google Meet, Teams, Zoom, meetergo Connect). Meeting types where Sally will join show a note about it in their Notifications settings. Sally is a separate product with its own account and pricing.
FAQ
How many minutes can I transcribe? What does it cost?
meetergo Log is free with no minute limit and no monthly fee. There is no free tier with a cap, because the transcription runs on your own hardware rather than on servers we pay for.
Can I use it on my phone?
No. meetergo Log runs on macOS and Windows only. You can record on your phone and then transcribe the audio file on your computer.
Does it capture what the other participants say?
Yes. It records the audio your computer plays as well as your microphone, so everyone in the call is transcribed and attributed by speaker.
Will other participants know I'm transcribing?
Not automatically. No bot joins and no recording indicator appears for them, so you have to tell them yourself.
Can I edit the transcript or open it in Word?
Yes. You can correct speaker names in the app, and export the transcript as text so you can paste or open it in Word, Google Docs or Notion.
Can I record a meetergo Connect meeting?
Yes, with meetergo Log running alongside the call. Connect itself has no recording button yet.
Why isn't the transcript showing up in meetergo?
Transcripts only sync when meetergo Log is connected to your account and you have generated a summary. Check the troubleshooting table in How to Connect meetergo Log with meetergo.
