Connect your calendar
Which calendars meetergo supports, how to connect them, and which direction the sync runs. Reading busy times is set per calendar and new bookings go to one calendar only, so a one way sync is possible as well as a two way sync.
This article provides an overview of how meetergo connects with various calendar services to streamline your scheduling experience. Understanding these connections will help you make the most of meetergo's calendar integration features.
Supported Calendar Services
meetergo works seamlessly with all popular calendar services, ensuring you can use your preferred tools with our platform.
Popular Calendar Integrations
Google Calendar and Microsoft calendars (Outlook and Exchange) work exceptionally well with meetergo.
- Your calendar events sync automatically
- Calendar invites are sent directly from your email address (you appear as the sender)
- Real-time availability updates keep your schedule accurate
- Meeting cancellations in your calendar automatically cancel in meetergo (Google and Outlook only)
When scheduling with Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, use the calendar invite option so your invitees receive calendar invitations directly from your email address, creating a seamless experience for your guests.

Additional Calendar Support
meetergo supports a wide range of other calendar services, including:
- Apple Calendar
- Fastmail
- Zoho Calendar
- NextCloud
- And many others
All these calendars integrate smoothly with meetergo, with optimizations for each provider's specific implementation. Most calendars connect via CalDAV, but you don't need to worry about the technical details - our connection process guides you through the appropriate steps for your calendar service.
Which direction does the sync run?
Reading and writing are two separate settings, so you decide the direction per calendar. This is what people usually mean by one-way or two-way sync.
| Direction | What it does | Where you set it |
|---|---|---|
| meetergo reads your calendar | Existing events block your availability so nobody can double book you | Enabled Calendars on each connection ("Select which calendars to check for conflicts") |
| meetergo writes to your calendar | New bookings are added as calendar events | The Calendar Sync dropdown on your Profile settings, plus Main Calendar inside that connection |
Only the connection you pick in the Calendar Sync dropdown receives new events. Its card shows a 2-Way-Sync badge. Every other connected calendar shows a Conflict Check badge, which means meetergo only reads it and never writes to it.
That gives you three setups:
- Two-way (default for your main calendar): it is the Calendar Sync target and it is ticked under Enabled Calendars.
- Read-only: leave the calendar out of the Calendar Sync dropdown and keep it ticked under Enabled Calendars. meetergo blocks your availability from it but never adds anything to it.
- Write-only: pick the calendar in the Calendar Sync dropdown, then untick it under Enabled Calendars. Every booking lands in it, but its own entries never block your availability. This is the setup for a shared team or management calendar that should collect everyone's appointments without blocking anyone.
To stop writing to any calendar, choose Do not add new events to my calendars at the bottom of the Calendar Sync dropdown.
Enabled Calendars is per individual calendar, so you can read from your work calendar and ignore a subscribed holiday or birthday calendar in the same account.
Calendar Settings
No matter which calendar service you connect, meetergo offers consistent settings to customize your experience:
Calendar Selection
Choose which specific calendars should affect your availability:
- Navigate to your Profile settings
- Next to your connected calendar, click the Gear Icon
- Check/Uncheck calendars

Primary Calendar
Designate your primary calendar where new meetings will be added:
- Go to your Profile settings
- In the Calendar Sync section, select your primary calendar
- All new meetings will be added to this calendar
Availability Status
Outlook and Microsoft 365 connections let you choose which event statuses make you unavailable: Busy (always on), Tentative, Away / Out of Office, Working Elsewhere and Unknown. Events set to Free never block.
Other providers have no such list. Google blocks whatever it reports as busy, Exchange blocks every status except Free, and Apple iCloud always blocks all-day events. See Why are events in my calendar not blocking my availability? for the rule per provider.
Calendar Cancellation Sync
For Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook users:
- Go to your Profile settings
- Next to your connected calendar, click the Gear Icon
- Open the options
- Expand additional Options
- Check/Uncheck the box to automatically cancel meetergo meetings when deleted from your calendar
Event Title and Content
The name, location, and description of the event meetergo writes into your calendar come from the meeting type, not from your calendar settings. See change the calendar event title, location, and description.
Connecting Your Calendar
The connection process is straightforward for all calendar services:
- Go to your Profile settings
- Click "Connect" next to your calendar service
- Follow the authentication steps for your specific provider
- Grant meetergo the necessary permissions
meetergo only requests the minimum calendar permissions needed to function properly and never stores your calendar passwords.
FAQ
Why am I still shown as available when I have "Out of Office" events in my calendar?
If you notice that "Out of Office" events aren't blocking your availability in meetergo, check your availability status settings:
- Go to your Profile settings and click the gear icon next to your connected calendar
- Under Calendar settings, find the "Consider me unavailable if" option
- Make sure "Out of Office" is selected
If "Out of Office" is not checked, meetergo will treat those calendar events as available time slots. Simply check the box to ensure these events block your availability properly.
Can I connect multiple calendar services simultaneously?
Yes, you can connect multiple calendar services (e.g., both Google and Outlook) to meetergo simultaneously. This is particularly useful if you maintain separate calendars for different aspects of your life.
How often does meetergo sync with my calendar?
meetergo syncs with connected calendars in near real-time. Most updates appear within minutes, though exact timing may vary by calendar provider.
What happens if I lose connection to my calendar?
If your calendar connection is interrupted, meetergo will send you a notification alerting you to the issue. You can reconnect by visiting your Profile page and following the connection steps again.
Can meetergo access my email or other personal information?
No. meetergo only requests permissions related to calendar functionality and cannot access your emails, contacts, or other personal information beyond what's necessary for calendar operations.
Can I sync one way only, so bookings are written to a calendar but its events do not block me?
Yes. Pick that calendar in the Calendar Sync dropdown and untick it under Enabled Calendars. See which direction does the sync run above.
Can I have a booking checked against two people's calendars at once?
Yes, but that is a meeting type setting, not a calendar setting. Add both hosts to the meeting type and meetergo only offers slots that work for everyone. See setting up a group meeting with multiple hosts.
Events from my connected calendar show up as "Private Event" in meetergo
That is meetergo's privacy default, not a setting in your own calendar. The time is blocked correctly, the title is just hidden. Turn on Show event titles from connected calendars in the calendar's settings menu to see your own titles. See Calendar View.
