Connecting openDesk to meetergo
Connect your openDesk calendar via CalDAV and use your openDesk Jitsi for video meetings.
openDesk is the sovereign workplace suite from ZenDiS for public administration. Its calendar is built on Open-Xchange and its video conferencing is built on Jitsi, and meetergo can connect to both. This article shows you how to link your openDesk calendar so meetergo respects your availability, and how to run your meetings on your own openDesk Jitsi.
Connect your openDesk calendar
openDesk's calendar runs on Open-Xchange, so you connect it through meetergo's CalDAV integration.
Step 1: Create an app password in openDesk
- Sign in to openDesk.
- Make sure two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled on your account. App passwords for CalDAV are only available once 2FA is active.
- Open your account security settings and create a new app password for calendar (CalDAV) access.
- Copy the generated password. You will use it in meetergo instead of your normal login password.
The exact location of app passwords depends on your openDesk version, and your administrator may need to enable them for your organization first. If you cannot find the option, contact your openDesk administrator.
Step 2: Connect openDesk in meetergo
- Log in to meetergo and go to your Profile settings.
- Click "Connect" next to "Other CalDAV Calendars".
- Select "Open Xchange" from the provider list.
- Enter your openDesk server URL, usually
https://your-opendesk-domain/dav(your administrator can confirm the exact address). - Enter your full openDesk email address as the username.
- Enter the app password you created in Step 1 as the password.
- Click "Connect".
meetergo now reads your openDesk calendar to block busy times, and writes new bookings back to it automatically.
meetergo is a cloud service, so your openDesk server must be reachable from the internet for the connection to work. If your openDesk runs on an internal network only, ask your administrator whether the CalDAV endpoint can be reached externally.
Use openDesk video (Jitsi) for your meetings
openDesk includes Jitsi for video conferencing. meetergo can generate meeting links on your own openDesk Jitsi instance instead of the public Jitsi server.
- In meetergo, open your Integrations and select Jitsi.
- Enter your openDesk Jitsi domain as the custom domain, for example
meet.your-opendesk-domain. - Save.
- In a meeting type, set the meeting location to Jitsi. Every new booking generates a room on your openDesk Jitsi.
Depending on how your openDesk Jitsi is configured, external guests may need to sign in before they can join. If you book with people outside your organization, confirm guest access with your administrator.
