Start an instant video call or use your personal room link

Not every call needs a booking link. With meetergo Connect you can jump into a video room right away, or hand out one permanent link that always leads to the same room. No downloads, no accounts for your guests.

Which link do you need?

Everything below happens on the Video calls page. In the sidebar it is the entry called Connect.

Start an instant call

From anywhere in the dashboard: click the New button at the top of the sidebar and choose Start instant call. You land straight in a fresh private room and can share the URL with the Copy link button.

From the Video calls page: the Instant call card has two buttons.

Start instant call creates the room and takes you into it.
Create link & copy creates the room and copies its link without joining, so you can paste it into an invitation first.

Instant rooms are not listed anywhere afterwards. Once you close the tab, the only copy of the link is the one you saved. If you need a link you can come back to, use your personal room instead.

Your personal room: a link that never changes

Every user has exactly one personal room. On the Video calls page, the Personal room card shows its full link (https://my.meetergo.com/connect/…) with Copy link and Join buttons.

The link belongs to your user account and never changes, so it is the right choice for anything you want to reuse:

A recurring meeting that people should not have to book (for example every second Thursday).
An open room for a group that you share once in a chat, newsletter or on a page.
A "call me here" link in your email signature.

Guests do not need a meetergo account, and you do not have to create anything before you share the link.

The personal room cannot be renamed, and there is only one per user. If you need several permanent links, each team member has their own personal room.

Let guests in when you are not there

By default a room has a waiting room: guests who open the link wait until you (or another host from your company) let them in. If nobody with host rights is in the room, nobody gets in.

To change that for your personal room, switch on Anyone with the link can join on the Personal room card. Guests then skip the waiting room and join directly, even when you are not there. The card shows "Public: guests join directly without seeing your waiting room." while the setting is on.

You can also flip the same switch during a call: open the Participants panel and use Anyone with the link can join (hosts only). The setting is stored per room, so your personal room keeps it until you turn it off.

An open room can be entered by anyone who has the link, at any time, without you noticing. Only turn this on for a link you are happy to share widely.

Customize the waiting room

Company admins (and team admins for their own team) can change what guests see while they wait: Video calls → Waiting room → Customize. You can set a welcome text, a logo, a background image or video, and a brand color that also tints the join button and the accents inside the call.

By default the design applies to the whole company. Team admins switch Applies to to their team and turn on Custom design for this team to override it.

Send the link through any channel: chat, email, or even SMS. Your guests:

Don't need a meetergo account to join.
Don't need to install anything — calls run in the browser.
Get end-to-end encrypted, peer-to-peer audio and video for privacy.

Frequently asked questions

"Are you still there?" keeps throwing me out of the room. After five minutes alone in a call you are asked "Are you still there?" and disconnected 60 seconds later. Click I'm still here to stay. The prompt cannot be switched off — it stops forgotten tabs from keeping empty rooms open. If you are waiting for someone, keep the tab in view so you can answer it.

Does every booking use the same room? No. A meeting type with meetergo Connect as the venue creates a new room for each booking, so each attendee gets their own link. Use your personal room if you want one link that stays the same.

I lost the link to an instant room. Instant rooms are not stored in a list, so a lost link cannot be recovered. Create a new room, or use your personal room for anything you want to open again later.

Can I change the preview text that appears when I paste the link? Not for video rooms. The title, description and image shown when a link is pasted into chat or social media can currently only be set for booking pages, under Sharing & SEO in the meeting type.

The "Start instant call" option is missing. Refresh the page or sign out and back in to reload your account access. If the option is still missing, contact support.
