Bill from hours
Turn confirmed billable hours and costs into an invoice draft, and how billed time is locked.
Bill turns everything that is open on a project into an invoice draft in Invoicing.
Create an invoice draft
- Open the project and click Bill, or open Budget → Billing.
- Check what is open: confirmed billable hours and costs you pass on that are not on any invoice yet.
- Click Create invoice draft.
The draft lands in Invoicing. Nothing goes to your customer until you send it.
The project needs a customer to be billed. Entries marked as internal stay out. Under Budget → Billing you can switch an entry between billable and internal.
Billed once
Billed time is locked. It is never offered again, neither on the project nor under Invoice bookings. If you delete the draft or cancel the invoice, the time is open again and you can bill it once more.
Hourly products bill the duration: a 90 minute entry on an hourly product is 1.5 hours on the invoice.
Milestones, retainers and quotas
- Partial invoice: on a fixed price project, give a milestone task an amount or a share of the fixed price. When the task is done, Mira suggests the partial invoice.
- Monthly retainer and Hour quota: at the start of each month, a draft for the past month waits in Approvals.
- When a project is done with unbilled hours, Mira suggests a final invoice.
These are suggestions. A person always approves them.
