Sick notes and eAU
Mark a sick note as received, fetch the electronic sick note (eAU), the data you need and who sees it.
When an employee reports sick, admins track whether the sick note (AU) is there. In Germany the employer fetches it as an electronic sick note (eAU) from the health insurer. You find this under Settings → Sick notes. It is part of the Suite plan.
Mark the AU by hand
On the sick absence, click Mark received and enter the dates. To fetch the eAU yourself, use the free SV-Meldeportal, linked right there. Undo removes the mark again.
Fetch the eAU automatically
When automatic retrieval is set up for your account, meetergo fetches the eAU for you:
- A sick note is fetched from the day an AU is needed, by default the fourth day.
- meetergo asks on the working day after the AU starts and checks again until it is there.
- If no eAU is found after five working days, admins get a notice to ask for the AU.
- If the AU lasts longer than the absence, meetergo asks you to extend the absence. It never changes it by itself.
Fetch now runs the open requests at once. The status shows the open requests and those without an AU.
Automatic retrieval is being set up. Until it is available for your account, the retrieval shows Off and you mark the AU by hand.
Data you need
- Your company's Betriebsnummer (8 digits).
- Under Team insurance, for each employee: statutory or private insurance, the insurer's Betriebsnummer and the insurance number. The number is stored encrypted and only the last three characters are shown again.
- With retrieval through DATEV: the personnel number in the payroll settings, and a DATEV login that allows eAU. See Upload to DATEV.
Private insurance and child sick days
There is no eAU for private insurance. meetergo reminds admins to ask for the AU directly. Child sick days are not fetched.
Who sees what
Only company admins see sick notes and insurance data. Every view is logged. The eAU contains no diagnosis. meetergo stores only dates and flags.
