Offer an earlier slot

Let booked guests move up automatically when an earlier appointment frees up

Updated on October 27, 2026

Guests often book a time far out because nothing sooner was free. With Offer an earlier slot they can ask to be told when an earlier time frees up, for example because someone cancelled, and move their appointment there with one click.

Enabling it

  1. Open the meeting type you want to configure.
  2. Go to More → Advanced → Booking access & limits.
  3. Toggle Offer an earlier slot on.
  4. Choose Offer at the earliest: 2 hours, 24 hours or 2 days before the free slot. Nobody is offered gaps on shorter notice.

While the setting is on, the settings show how many guests are currently waiting for an earlier slot.

What the guest sees

  1. On the confirmation page after booking, the guest sees Prefer an earlier time? and clicks Notify me. They can undo this right there.
  2. When an earlier slot frees up, they get an email showing the new time next to their current one.
  3. The button in the email opens a page where they confirm the move. Their appointment is then rescheduled exactly as if they had rescheduled it themselves: calendar invitations, reminders, workflows, webhooks and confirmation emails all follow.

When slots are checked

meetergo looks for earlier slots right after an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled, and every 30 minutes for slots that free up in other ways, for example when you delete an event in your calendar. Only slots your availability allows are offered: working hours, buffers, booking limits and, on round robin meeting types, the host of the appointment.

Each slot is offered to a guest only once. The email has a link to stop further notices for that appointment.

Limitations

The option is not offered for:

  • Group bookings and meeting types with several seats per slot
  • Paid meeting types
  • Dates of a recurring series
  • Appointments your rescheduling policy no longer allows guests to move

Requests end when the appointment is cancelled, rescheduled or over.
