How language settings work for booking pages
Understand how organization and meeting type language settings control your booking page and notification language.
Want your attendees to receive confirmation emails, reminders, and calendar invitations in their own language? Simply enable additional languages in your organization settings — meetergo will then automatically match the attendee's language.
If only one language is enabled, everything — booking page, emails, calendar invitations — will always be in that language. To support multiple languages, you need to add them in your settings first.
Setting up languages
Organization settings (default for all meeting types)
Go to Settings > Organization > Language to configure:
- Default language — the language used when no better match is found
- Allowed languages — all languages you want to support
Override for a specific meeting type
You can use different languages for individual meeting types:
- Open the meeting type editor
- Go to the Advanced tab
- Enable Override organization language settings
- Select the languages for this meeting type
This is useful when a meeting type targets a different audience. For example, a German-only organization might enable English for a specific meeting type used by international customers.
How meetergo picks the language
When multiple languages are enabled, meetergo detects the attendee's browser language. If it matches one of your allowed languages, that language is used. Otherwise, the default language is used.
The ?lang= URL parameter
You can add ?lang=en (or any language code) to your booking link. This always changes the booking page language to the specified language.
For notifications (emails, calendar invitations), the ?lang= parameter works like browser detection — the language is only used if it's in your allowed set. If it's not, notifications are sent in the default language.
Example: ?lang=fr on a German-only meeting type will show the booking page in French, but emails will still be sent in German.
Where language applies
| Element | Language used |
|---|---|
| Booking page | Browser language or ?lang= parameter |
| Confirmation email | Attendee's language (if in allowed set) |
| Reminder emails | Attendee's language (if in allowed set) |
| Calendar invitation | Attendee's language (if in allowed set) |
| Cancellation/reschedule pages | Organization/meeting type default |
| Business card | Organization language |
Active languages in the Communication tab
The Communication tab in the meeting type editor shows an "Active languages" banner at the top. This tells you which languages your attendees can receive notifications in.
Available languages
English, German, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Danish.
Custom content
meetergo automatically translates standard interface elements. Custom content (meeting type names, descriptions, form questions, email templates) needs to be translated manually or using the AI translate feature.
FAQ
Will changing language settings affect existing bookings?
No, only new bookings are affected.
Why are my attendees receiving emails in the wrong language?
Most likely only one language is enabled. Go to Settings > Organization > Language and add the languages you want to support. Once added, meetergo will automatically match the attendee's language.
Can I set different languages for different meeting types?
Yes — enable "Override organization language settings" in the Advanced tab of the meeting type.
