Limit Future Bookings
Control how far in advance people can book meetings with you
The future booking limit controls how far ahead attendees can schedule. By default, people can book up to 30 days out, but you can adjust this to match your planning needs.
What Is Future Booking Limit?
This setting determines the maximum number of days (or weeks) into the future that booking slots appear. For example:
- 7 days: Only show availability for the next week
- 30 days: Show the next month (default)
- 90 days: Show the next quarter
- Forever: No limit on how far ahead people can book
Configure Future Booking Limit
- Go to Meeting Types
- Edit your meeting type
- Find Scheduling or Availability settings
- Locate Days Into Future or Booking Window
- Choose your preferred mode:
- Limit: Set maximum days
- Range: Set a specific date range
- Forever: No limit
- Save changes
Booking Modes
Limit Mode
Set a rolling window from today:
- "30 days" = Today through 30 days from now
- Window moves forward each day
Range Mode
Set specific start and end dates:
- Useful for limited-time offerings
- Fixed dates that don't roll forward
Forever Mode
No future limit:
- Attendees can book as far ahead as they want
- Limited only by your calendar availability
Common Settings
| Use Case | Recommended Limit |
|---|---|
| High-demand availability | 7-14 days |
| Standard scheduling | 30 days |
| Long-term planning | 60-90 days |
| Seasonal services | Range mode with specific dates |
| Open availability | Forever |
Use Cases
High-Demand Professionals
Limit to 1-2 weeks:
- Creates urgency
- Easier calendar management
- Focus on near-term commitments
Standard Business
30-day limit:
- Balanced planning horizon
- Enough flexibility for most needs
- Manageable calendar view
Enterprise Sales
60-90 day limit:
- Accommodate longer sales cycles
- Allow advance planning
- Support quarterly scheduling
Seasonal Services
Use range mode:
- Tax consultations: January-April
- Holiday services: November-December
- Summer programs: June-August
Coaches and Consultants
Vary by service:
- Discovery calls: 2 weeks (quick decisions)
- Ongoing sessions: 60 days (plan ahead)
How It Interacts with Other Settings
With Minimum Notice
Both limits apply together:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum notice | 24 hours |
| Future limit | 14 days |
| Bookable window | Tomorrow through 14 days |
With Availability
Future limit doesn't override availability:
- If you're unavailable on a day, it won't show
- Only available slots within the limit appear
With Calendar Conflicts
Existing appointments still block slots:
- Future limit sets the maximum window
- Calendar conflicts remove specific times
Best Practices
Match Your Planning Horizon
Set the limit based on how far ahead you can reliably commit:
- Uncertain schedule? Use shorter limits
- Stable calendar? Longer limits work
Consider Your Audience
Think about when people typically book:
- B2B: Often 1-2 weeks ahead
- B2C: Often same-week or next-week
- Enterprise: May need months ahead
Manage Expectations
On your booking page, clarify:
- How far ahead you're available
- When more slots open up
- How to request exceptions
Update Seasonally
Adjust limits for different periods:
- Busy seasons: Shorter limits, more control
- Slow periods: Longer limits, more flexibility
Creating Urgency
Shorter booking windows can increase conversions:
| Limit | Effect |
|---|---|
| 7 days | "Limited availability—book now" |
| 14 days | Balance of urgency and flexibility |
| 30+ days | No urgency, maximum flexibility |
Consider your sales psychology when setting limits.
Troubleshooting
No Slots Showing
If attendees see "no availability":
- Check future limit isn't too short
- Verify you have availability set for upcoming days
- Check minimum notice isn't blocking all slots
- Review calendar for conflicts
Too Many Slots Showing
If you're getting bookings too far out:
- Reduce the future limit
- Consider if your calendar will be stable that far ahead
Dates Not Matching
If using range mode:
- Verify start and end dates
- Check timezone settings
- Ensure dates haven't passed
