Offer Multiple Meeting Durations

Let attendees choose between different meeting lengths like 15, 30, or 60 minutes

Updated on December 15, 2025

Instead of creating separate meeting types for each duration, you can offer multiple duration options within a single meeting type. Attendees choose their preferred length when booking.

What Are Multiple Durations?

A single meeting type can offer several duration choices:

  • 15-minute quick call
  • 30-minute standard meeting
  • 60-minute deep dive

Attendees see these options and select the one that fits their needs.

Enable Multiple Durations

  1. Go to Meeting Types
  2. Edit your meeting type
  3. Find Duration or Meeting Options settings
  4. Enable Multiple Durations or Allowed Durations
  5. Add your desired duration options (e.g., 15, 30, 60 minutes)
  6. Set the default/primary duration
  7. Save changes

How It Works

For Attendees

  1. They visit your booking page
  2. Duration options appear as selectable choices
  3. They pick their preferred length
  4. Available slots update based on selected duration
  5. They complete the booking

For You

  • One meeting type to manage (not three)
  • Calendar events reflect the chosen duration
  • Confirmations show the booked length

Setting a Primary Duration

The primary duration is:

  • The default shown first
  • Used for availability calculations
  • The recommended option

Set your most common duration as primary, with alternatives as options.

Interaction with Other Settings

Time Slot Intervals

With multiple durations:

  • Slot intervals typically match the shortest duration
  • Example: 15-min intervals for 15/30/60 options

Buffer Times

Buffers apply regardless of duration chosen:

  • 15-min meeting + 10-min buffer = 25 min blocked
  • 60-min meeting + 10-min buffer = 70 min blocked

Pricing (if enabled)

Each duration can have different pricing:

  • 15 min: Free
  • 30 min: $50
  • 60 min: $100

Configure in your payment settings.

Best Practices

Offer 2-4 Options

Too many choices overwhelm:

  • ❌ 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, 60 minutes
  • ✅ 15, 30, 60 minutes

Use Clear Labels

Name durations descriptively:

  • "15 min - Quick Question"
  • "30 min - Standard Session"
  • "60 min - Deep Dive"

Set Expectations

In descriptions, explain what each duration covers:

  • Short: Specific questions only
  • Medium: Full discussion
  • Long: Comprehensive review

Price Appropriately

If charging, consider:

  • Per-minute value should be similar
  • Longer sessions might have slight discount
  • Short sessions shouldn't feel rushed

Use Cases

Support Teams

Offer durations based on issue complexity:

  • Simple question: 15 min
  • Technical issue: 30 min
  • Complex problem: 60 min

Freelancers

Match duration to project phase:

  • Discovery call: 30 min
  • Kickoff meeting: 60 min
  • Check-in: 15 min

Healthcare Providers

Different appointment types:

  • Follow-up: 15 min
  • Consultation: 30 min
  • Initial assessment: 60 min

When to Use Separate Meeting Types Instead

Multiple durations work for variations of the same meeting. Use separate meeting types when:

  • Meetings have different purposes entirely
  • Different team members handle different types
  • Distinct preparation or follow-up is needed
  • Separate branding/pricing structures needed

FAQ

Do all durations share the same availability?

Yes, they use the same availability schedule. Only the time blocked differs.

Can I limit certain durations to specific days?

Not directly. For day-specific durations, create separate meeting types.

What if someone needs a custom duration?

They'd need to contact you directly. Consider adding a "custom" option that links to a contact form.

Does the duration affect my calendar event?

Yes, the calendar event reflects the actual duration chosen by the attendee.

Can I hide certain durations?

You can remove durations from the allowed list. To show/hide based on conditions, you'd need separate meeting types.
