Protect your account with two-factor authentication
Set up an authenticator app, passkeys and recovery codes so your meetergo account stays safe even if your password leaks.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step to your sign-in. Even if someone knows your password, they cannot get into your account without your phone or passkey.
You manage everything in one place: open Profile settings and find the Two-factor authentication card.
2FA applies to password sign-ins. If you sign in with your Google or Microsoft account, your second factor is managed by that provider, and the card will tell you so.
Set up an authenticator app
An authenticator app (for example Google Authenticator, 1Password or Microsoft Authenticator) generates a fresh 6-digit code every 30 seconds.
- Open Profile settings.
- In the Two-factor authentication card, click Set up authenticator app.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. Can't scan? Click the link below the code to reveal a key you can type in instead.
- Enter the 6-digit code your app shows.
- Optionally give the device a name, like "My phone", and continue.
You are done. From now on, meetergo asks for a code from your app after you enter your password.
Add a passkey
A passkey lets you confirm your sign-in with your fingerprint, your face or your device PIN instead of typing a code.
- Open Profile settings.
- In the Two-factor authentication card, click Add passkey.
- Your browser asks where to save the passkey, for example in iCloud Keychain, Windows Hello or your password manager. Follow the prompt and confirm.
If the prompt only offers your device keychain but you would like to use a password manager like Bitwarden or 1Password, enable the passkey option in that manager's browser extension settings first.
Save your recovery codes
After you add your first 2FA method, meetergo asks you to save recovery codes. Do it right away.
- Click Generate recovery codes in the highlighted box.
- Copy the codes and store them somewhere safe, for example in your password manager.
- Confirm that you saved them.
Each code signs you in exactly once if you ever lose your phone or passkey.
Recovery codes are your only way back in if you lose all your 2FA devices. Without them, you will need to contact support to regain access.
Need new codes? Click Regenerate in the card. This replaces all your old codes.
Signing in with 2FA
After you enter your password, meetergo asks for your second factor. If you have several methods, your passkey comes first.
Want to use a different method, for example a recovery code instead of your passkey? Click Try another way on the sign-in screen and pick the method you want.
Remove a 2FA method
- Open Profile settings.
- Click the trash icon next to the method you want to remove.
- Confirm your identity and the removal on the secure page that opens.
If you remove your last 2FA method, your account is protected by your password alone again.
Locked out?
- Lost your phone but saved recovery codes? Sign in with your password, click Try another way and enter one of your recovery codes. Then set up a new authenticator app and generate fresh codes.
- Lost everything? Contact us at support@meetergo.com and we will verify your identity and help you back in.
